What’s the middle ground between global and per-part layers for VSTs?

I’m a new VST Live 3 user slowly learning it by sending my projects from Cubase to Live. As a three piece, we use VST Live to drive our drum machines while we all jam over the top of it.

I was playing with a Zenology patch and I know how to share that instance/layer across multiple parts of a song. But there’s still a slight dropout between parts even if the patch and all parameters are the same.

So I learned how to do global parts which works great except that Zenology patch will be available the entire setlist.

I know it’s early days and I’m sure there’s a path I’m missing (but the manual is pretty sparse). I know I can add extra layers in the Global Part and then use zones to isolate them. This might work best for me as I’m the singer and only playing little hooks here and there and not making the use of the entire scale of any given instrument.

But I wonder if experienced users have any other tips for how to avoid those dropouts but still have maximum flexibility of per part layers.

Thanks
