While we’re on the subject, I’m finding the bar numbers to be problematic, too.
Either I see bar numbers floating around above measures that are not there, or ,if I turn off “show at cutaways”, I have measures that do not show numbers at all. Should there not be an option to “always show measure numbers at bottommost or topmost staff”?

EDIT: I think an ideal feature here would be: show X at topmost (or bottommost) staff EXCEPT at start of system (where it instead will show at top of score).
