I stayed away from NVIDIA for years but the driver (the “studio” one) is much better now. If you’re not intending to game, then I’d suggest any RTX 30, 40 or 50-series you can find and afford should be fine.
Someone here recently got a good price on the re-issued RTX 3060 with 12GB, for example, which should work reasonably well with e.g. SpectraLayers, but obviously if you have the cash and plenty of cooling, the RTX 5090 32GB would be nice ![]()

For what it’s worth I use an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060ti (8GB) with the studio driver (Desktop / Windows 11 / Cubase Pro) and it works great - and has for years. DP and HDMI connections, and it drives my new Samsung Odyssey 49" curved just fine.
I used an NVidia RTX 3060 with 12GB when I built my Windows 11 system last year, and it’s been quite good. In particular, it does unmixing in SpectraLayers Pro 12 in roughly real time, and it seems to do well in other applications and plugins I use that use GPU assists on AI (definitely at least IK ReSing on the plugins/ARA front and various features in Photoshop that do local AI-oriented processing).
I’ll be using it for spectral layers, noise works voice assist, and amp profiling, etc. How much does 12 GB make a difference from 6 GB?
With this proc, you already have an iGPU, for MAO it is far enough.
And you limit the needed power, lowering the need for a massive cooling system.
If you do only MAO, no need for a duplicated GPU.
Regarding SpectraLayers, I started with an RTX 3050 6GB (which was basically a laptop chip on a PCIe card so it could run without fans) and, while it did work well, with a noticeable speed increase in “un-mixing”, I needed to get on Windows 11 (don’t ask
) so I decided to build a new PC mid 2025, and boy did I get lucky – before prices went through the roof – with an RTX 5060 Ti 16GB. This is more than I need, but it can un-mix a 4 minute song in about 1m20s.
Based on other user reports over in the SpectraLayers forum, from about SL v 11 onwards, ideally you would aim for at least 24GB GPU RAM, but using the “shared memory” setting in SL prefs, it should in fact work fine with less.
So in summary, any RTX 30, 40 or 50-series you can find and afford should be fine, 8GB GPU RAM should work, but it also depends what you intend to do with SpectraLayers. If you just need to un-mix a short snip occasionally, pretty much anything should work, but if you’re doing industrial-grade remixing, then more is better.
RTX 3050 8GB here, works well with SL13. Full audio separation in high quality, 4 min song → ~2 min processing.
Not sure but my 8GB works just fine.

I just use the Intel video on the motherboard. It works just fine, and makes NO noise.
NVIDIA studio driver has always worked for me and I find their driver website to be clear and easy to understand. I do not install the NVIDIA app because it just intrudes/contributes on/to stuff I don’t use. I do not game on my Cubase machine.
Unfortunately, noise works voiceassist requires a video card

Remember to set power management mode from nvidia control panel to prefer maximum power, not sure if it´s default, but helps on rendering stuff
