New curve type in midi track : PLEASE let us set CC64 default curve type to Step even if default controller type is set to ramp. What’s the point of a ramp curve for a sustain pedal that can only be on or off?
Or maybe let us set default curve type per controller and not for all the new ones?
OH MY GOD!!! You have no idea how much this grinds my gears!!
I do not know if you figured it out yet but, you can lower the gain from the Pre section of the inspector and save it as default preset.
The ancient codes worked They still do, until the dongle breaks. Ouch…
Just kidding, I’m onboard with the efforts to migrate things for existing dev kits, bypass requirements for old proprietary CPU instruction sets, etc. I suspect that once they get it all where they really want it…the entirely of Cubase could theoretically work as a ‘VST/AU plugin’ itself, on any CPU architecture (provided it’s a fast/powerful enough model), in almost any OS
The growing pains just hurt sometimes. Seeing legacy support gradually die, with no ‘legacy fork’ option that’ll get support can hurt a bit too, but then again, a legacy fork version would make it all more expensive, as they’d have to continue assigning people to work on and support it…all while attempting to band-aid together dev tools that are long dead too.
I remain grateful at all the power and creativity we can get for well under 1k. I can remember when we were paying 10 times this for a simple mono synth, with half an arp engine that was a pistol to actually program and use. Just the cables to hook the mess up cost more than a Cubase Pro license, and it still sounded like a ‘toy’
It would be great if audio dragged into the sampler track gets automatically copied into the project’s audio files. I usually just drag drum sounds from mediabay directly into sampler tracks, and when I open the project on another computer the sampler track’s empty.
VoxComp, Black Valve, and TubeCompressor in the stock channelstrip.
Doesn’t it ask you if you want to copy the files into the audio pool?
The sustain pedal on many digital pianos send a full 0-127 range of CC 64. This is so you are able to achieve “half pedal” (or half damper) pedal states.
In addition, I stay away from Ramp Mode in Cubase due to its inherently low resolution. But that’s a different topic.
Not when you directly drag audio files to the sampler track I think
Oh Good God, man, yeah 100%. I am beyond grateful for what we have today. Not to mention the insane plugins that have come out lately, which make great-sounding mixes a reality, whereas some years back having great mixes in the box was like chasing unicorns.
I am at an age where I distinctly remember that owning a studio was a midsummer night’s dream (A tape recorder was like, £80K, which tape machine needed an engineer on standby).
I was one of the guys who slapped himself against the windows of music stores, crying like a little kid who had its ice cream stolen, knowing that a synthesizer would need me to take out a mortgage, and was beyond anything I could ever afford.
I bought a Tascam 4 track tape recorder, and I felt like Matt Lange, to only hear some endless wave sounds of the sea coming out of the speakers, which ended up being the hiss I was getting from the tape…
Having any gripes aside, thank God for Steinberg
PS. I still have my M1 Korg, for sentimental reasons…(worked an entire summer to get the thing XD)
Huh, it should at least give you the option to import in the pool…
I understand, however when writing classical piano score, it makes sens to have sustain pedal on or off only and step curves are perfect for that.
Anyway, the possibility to have different default curve type for each controller would be a real time saver !
By the way if you disable grid alignment (j) you can have very smooth ramp lines
I was talking about the difference between Step and Ramp for the setting “Type of New Controller Events”.
Here’s a post I made a while back showing that Ramp mode has an unavoidable low resolution:
-
Score Editor improvements: Include the playable dynamics when importing Dorico files. This can be done with midi files. Currently we have to choose between seeing the dynamic notation within an imported Dorico score which is not playable or importing a midi file exported from Dorico which includes the dynamics but no dynamic notation. It would be great to have both notated dynamics and playable dynamics for the Dorico import.
-
Expression map improvements: this has been requested for many years. It would be good to start including some of Dorico expression map capabilities.
As I have both Cubase 14 Pro and Dorico 6. I would love to have even more seemless integration between the two. I appreciate Steinberg making a good start and hope to see a lot more integration for Cubase 15.
Cheers,
JDTune
i would really appreciate a new look to the piano roll. More up to date UI, simple slide-note functionality etc. I think FL Studio piano roll is the best, and thats why i still use it to produce. been wishing for this for years now.. Exept for the piano roll i think Cubase is GOATED over any daw.
You can create a LE preset to move all sustain points to either 0 or 127.
Macro>Edit select all>LE preset. Done.
I suppose you could also create one to delete any that are not 0 or 127 as well.
There are other customers who are in 100% opposition to this request.
Use the Pool’s function “Prepare Archive” before copying the project ot another computer.
Is this achieved with pitch-bend? So it would emulate the glide function of a synth but inside the key editor?
Just a new track type that would let me automate the volume of the click track to make it quieter or silent, to reduce click track bleed e.g. at the end of a song. Could also let you route the click level differently to different busses, though I don’t personally need that.
It should be so simple to add this, and would save me from having to create my own custom click track for every song.
Yeah, that’s how it works in FLS. You just put it in slide mode and the pitch follows the notes.
