What would you like to see in Cubase 15?

I’m aware of that, you don’t find it annoying when you are browsing sound sources that every time you add something it’s obnoxiously loud and you have to turn down the gain? I find it a waste of time to have to grab the volume knob constantly because plugin manufacturers want their synth to sound as loud as possible when people demo it. (The first thing I do when I open an instrument is gain down -5db - every single time)

I do certainly turn down the VST, but as I’m sure you’ve experienced, every time you change a preset it puts the volume back to 100% so until you settle on something you like it ends up being really irritating unless you like everything super loud.

I’d appreciate a Dorico to Cubase upgrade path - something better than just buying Cubase outright… I bought Dorico, would hope that Steinberg would want folks like me to get Cubase as well at some discount

A text transcription track that would transcribe text from a selected audio track would be great. The feature would display text detected in the timeline. This would help seeing where you are in a project in cases where markers weren’t set during tracking. The feature could allow more than one instance of this track type and each instance would transcribe a different audio track (example : Main vocals versus ad libs versus backups) alternatively for non musical projects, would help to see dialogue from a podcast recording or scripts read by multiple speakers for ADR projects or other non musical projects with multiple voices (conversations). Font size and scalability options would help. The ability to refresh and or disconnect from the audio would be good in cases where the timing of several takes is expected to be the same and where you just need to capture text once (for musical vocal takes for example)

Makes, sense to get the default UI, looking consistent first.

That is, before any kind of user theme can be applied.

Not, what I’d call “professional”.

I’d like to see, this in the Export dialog, a miniaturised marker, section whereby you can define points for export, and save these as a preset.

Can forum mods confirm if this type of multiple entry post is or isn’t effective for FR?
I remember a previous instance arguing for separate posts.

Some of my FR for C15

  • a songwriting assistant : revamping and linking the chord track and chord pads, possibly integrating AI (or a scaler type functionality) so it can better help suggest chords, melodies, drum patterns, help transpose a song, etc..
  • ability to delete tracks from mixer
  • ability to select multiple lanes for automation within the More.. menu
  • option to hear variaudio through inserts
  • ability to change plugins default names
  • Make the Link Project and Lower Zone Editor Cursors function available for audio, for now only available for MIDI.
Stability of course. And much more. Hope some of these will make it in a 14 update soon !

I still find exporting cues very time consuming and cumbersome.

I can see that Steinberg are trying to improve the function, but, it needs further options. Hopefully they will listen.

May I suggest to do this once and then save that setting as the default preset? Then the synth will be loaded with the volume turned down automatically.

Instead of defining export ranges in the export dialog why don’t you define them in the project as cycle markers?

Cycle markers define a from…to position on the timeline.
Are you asking for makers to additional enable a track selection?

Can’t a track selection not be done in the project by using groups and/or Direct Routing?

Might be an idea to have that, I originally asked for folder export, perhaps, a folder + marker selection would be the way to go.

As it is now, is very slow and cumbersome.

  • Automatic fade in/out when cutting an audio, like in Reaper
  • Being allow to set middle C of the keyboard to C4 as it is supposed to be
  • No audio gap when inserting/removing a plugin
  • Being able to easily insert parts of other projects when working with several ones

Plenty of nice ideas, I would ask a simple option to the existing one, to freeze and unfreeze all tracks at once without the need of selecting any, in order to add a tracks while the cpu is already frying eggs, thanks !

That’s a good idea, thanks! It’s too bad you can’t save a default preset for the channel strip too - but it looks like you can work around with track presets.

Hi Johnny,

That’s what I do but it requires another track, so I mainly just use the default markers.

I don’t know whether or not I need to always clear the export queue, however every time.

To add, I would like to see a way to export preferences, since it is self-defeating to be able to delete them, while also being able to remove a saved preset.

Cheers

The main Preferences are “exported” if you save your own. Its in the same folder all the rest of Cubase’s settings are stored in.

Thank you but it’s just another arcane and outdated way of doing things, and it doesn’t matter that it just works, it’s how it works that is the problem and the fact that you can’t really do something that would seem to be quite basic.

Someone also mentioned in this thread, about being able to save a default preset for the channel strip but only Track Presets are actually available, dissimilar but comparable situation, not to mention having to dive into some folder just to get port assignments.

Can’t you do something similar with a PLE and key command?
