What's Dorico's criteria for sorting Playing Techniques

Even if we don’t get custom categories, I hope we can get customizable Playing techniques by particular plugin companies (VSL), instrument sub-categories (pitched vs unpitched percussion) and particular instruments inside subcategories ( VSL SY Timpani).

I think that is less likely than getting custom categories.
Why would there be special favours for particular (non-Steinberg) libraries?

It’s not about favors, though I can see it being interpreted that way, but rather the fact that many users use other non-Steinberg libraries, and just like other features have been added on as the program grows, this too would be of great help for all. At least since I’ve been using Dorico, the community at large has shown me great open-mindedness about developing what users need, not what the company only offers.

Am I off on my observation?

The problem I can see is that a special case for one library would require a special case for all libraries.

I’m not saying that dórico developers have to do this work for other libraries. I’m saying that hopefully they could set up a more flexible structure for us, users, to do this customization for any of our own libraries.

For example, I use VSL instruments. Therefore I would create and subcategorize in a way that fits my needs for the use of this particular library.

Currently I’m confronted with more and more endless lists of playing techniques that is becoming more and more unmanageable.

Does this clarify what I am hoping for?

Sorry, but no.

The playing techniques are a consequence of your choice about how you use a particular sound library. There are no standards.

It makes perfect sense to me, and I’m on the list of users hoping for more flexibility as well.

Yes I agree with you that there are no standards. That’s why I’m hoping for the flexibility I need to organize my libraries in a way that works best for me.

The basic standard structure is already set my dórico. I’m wanting to have the ability to do what I’ve described before.

In any case, I appreciate your input and views on the subject.
