Why is it that the “Effects” section in the Export Audio Mixdown window is greyed out for Single Channel selection, but not for Multiple? Does changing this setting in multiple change it for Single?
Hi Babble,
According to the manual the Effects (Insert and Strip) is indeed only available when using “Multiple”. If you choose “Single” the Effects (Insert and Strip) will be greyed out but applied by default. They do not explain why but my guess is that they wanted to keep the “Single” export as straight forward as possible and the “Multiple” as flexible as possible.
But I’m confused, is the Effects option that I picked in the Multiple then applied to the Single? And so if I want to change that, I have to go to Multiple, change it, then go back to Single and it will be applied?
That’s kind of ridiculous if that’s the case…
Hi Babble,
On my side when I use “Single” the result will always be the complete routing path. So it doesn’t matter what is shown in the Effects option. That’s probably why it is greyed out. Most likely removing this field from the “Single” layout would be more logical from that perspective.
I only use the “Single” when exporting a mixdown. I don’t know the Steinberg philosophy but perhaps that’s also it’s main function. Obviously from that point of view the complete routing path is applied.
I always use the “Multiple” export when exporting my tracks to send off to the studio that loads them into pro tools for mixdown.
Hope this helps
