Also I’ve not heard it imposing a unique flavour on the mix.

As a last defence against overs, I use “Barricade” by ToneBoosters ToneBoosters | Audio Plug-ins | Oops...

Very transparent, with look-ahead and inter-sample peak detection in line with EBU R128 spec, and K-system metering.

Also very cheap at £20 or so.
