When I edit drum kit it freezes?

Why If I edit my drum kit, then try to add a drum, the screen says “you have unsaved changes” and then it completely freezes and to fix it I have to restart the app?

Hi @Abraham.H,
I was not able to reproduce the issue you describe.

Does this happen only in a specific project or in any project?

If this is reproducible, can you tell us what is the initial setup and what are the steps to reproduce the issue? (And if this happens only in a specific Dorico project, can you upload it?)

Try moving a drum to a different line and then try adding a drum.

I tried many things/edits, including “moving a drum to a different line” and adding drum doesn’t give any warning.

So I think would be good to have the very precise steps that bring that warning to appear (maybe you can also make a screen recording, so we see what you exactly do).

I took a screen recording of it, but I can’t upload that type of file onto this forum.

The forum accepts only Dorico files, or Jpeg images and PDF and some audio and video formats (not all are compatible). Incompatible files need to be zipped to be able to upload them, since the Forum accepts ZIP files. But there is limit of 4MB. If your video recording is bigger than 4MB, you can upload it to a cloud service (Dropbox, Google Drive, OneBox, WeTransfer, etc…), and post the link here.

In addition, please post a Dorico file that presents the issue, with a description of the precise steps to reproduce the unexpected behaviour, some user or someone from the Team can see what is going on. Thank you.

Thank you for the file and screen recording, @Abraham.H, after you changed the position of an instrument, you need to click on the Apply button on the bottom right, to confirm your moving action, before you add a new instrument:

The notification you receive (“Do you wish to discard your changes?”) is expected, because you didn’t click Apply, and Dorico asks if you want to discard your changes (in this case the moving of the instrument), because he needs to open a new dialogue to add a new instrument and needs to know if the last change should be saved or not. You can click Save at the bottom right of that notification, so Dorico saves the instrument moving you did, and can then open the instrument picker to add a new instrument:

Or you just click Apply after every change, if you don’t like that notification  :

  • move an instrument
  • click Apply
  • add another instrument
  • click Apply
  • and so on…
  • when you are done with the last Apply, you can click Close

@Christian_R Thank you for that idea.

Also another problem is that, if I add a drum it jumps back to the setup page which is annoying.

And this is still a bug.
