When I try to delete a selection, it just reduces the amplitude

When I try to delete a selection, it does not delete the audio, it just reduces the amplitude.
It worked correctly in Wavelab 9.

How do you “delete” in Audio Editor or in Montage ?

I opened a 32-bit wave file, and I am editing it. I’ve never used montages.
The same problem happens if I use the “cut” command from the menu.
This used to work in Wavelab 9… what is going on?

This is insane… it works if I…

  1. select from the start up to the point I want to delete
  2. cut & paste into a new file
  3. select from the end of the point I want to delete up to the end of the file
  4. cut & append into the same new file
    then it works ok.
Why is that I can cut from the start of the file to a mid point, but I can’t cut a small selection from the middle of the file?

How long to you delete?
what do you can delete: replace with muted samples, or remove the samples way.
Have you activated cross-fading or not?
