I often import midi tracks from other projects and it has always automatically matched the tempo, so one bar of midi from the old project, is the same as one bar of midi in the new project, even if the tempos are different.
However I must have changed something, as it now imports midi at the original tempo. IT changes it if I alter it in the new project, but by a relative amount, and it’s almost impossible to make it match. Can anyone help?
Hi,
Tak a look to the Preferences > MIDI > MIDI File > Import Options > Ignore Master Track Events on Merge.
If this option is enabed, and you import a MIDI File to already existing project, the import ignores the Master Track (like Tempo). So the project is using the original tempo (not the one from the MIDI File).
If this option is enabled, and you import a MIDI File to already existing project, the import overwrites the original Tempo track with the Tempo data from the MIDI File.
Thank you. I figured it out, I had the timeline set to seconds, not beats and bars. It was presenting as beats and bars, but needed to be toggle back and forth once to make it behave.
The function you mentioned is very useful to know though, thanks for the response.
