I know that the Mediabay file for Cubase 14 Elements is not in the same place as it was in Cubase 13.
Maybe what i am looking for is separate from the Cubase Environment, and the preference/rating file is kept in the same place regardless of which version of cubase i am using.
Basically , i want to rate the patterns, and port them to my laptop.
Any idea where it is ?
Iâve just done the latest update to Groove Agent v5.2.3 and itâs bâŚ.d up my ratings and I havenât a clue where the original ratings were stored.
Windows | C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Steinberg\Steinberg MediaBay Server\mediabay3.db
Make a copy of that file and store it in case it ever gets ruined/corrupted, this is the Media bay Database, it is storing/organising your entire set-up, your ratings system, tags, of all your Steinberg and user content.
I would not use ratings. They dont work well. Firstly everything has been rated 3 star by default, rendering 3 star meaningless and confining the usser practically to use only 1245 star ratings. Secondly you can define why you rated it.
much better to use the Keyword Text category. You can alter which columns are shown in Ga, there are some bugs, at least on my system. Donât forget that new column headings appear on the right, often out of sight. You can draag them.
i will publish something soon here. next day or so
What I have found is that if I enter 5 star for anything, then come back a year later, well it might still sound good, but for what purpose?
With stars you cant say âGreat synth Vox enhancerâ, or âScreechy wail soundâ, or âchicken type noiseâ then later search for that chicken noise? You get more room for you this way, more useful personal control. You can search comments too.
On my system the columns, although reliable at keeping data, often, not always, donât like being in other than default order for more than a few sessions.
You can clear all the stars, specifically the 3-star default ratings, but any new library download will almost certainly have more default 3-star ratings. And any re-built or re-loaded libraries will likely have 3-star ratings.
I canât possibly explain explain why this is a Steinberg default, but until they permanently change it, the star system is somewhere between poor and completely unusable.
Media Bay is so tough to use, I think its because it isv so heavily text based. Yesterday I stumbled across a program called called Sononym, which allows you to AI search for sounds Y that are similar to X. There is a trial, but I havenet explored it yet. Hopefully Steinberg will ingtroduce something like this.
