Where has the Cubase 15 beat calculator moved to

It’s gone.

And is there anything to calculate the tempo in Cubase Pro 15?

If you want to get technical, Media Bay can if you put the time in to set it up.

There is not.

You will find a lot of threads on this subject. Fact of the matter - Beat Calculator has been removed without an explanation and alternative methods are not as effortless as they were with Beat Calculator.
Here is a thread that will suggest a few alternative approaches:

It’s best you make up your own mind if the “replacement” works just fine for you or not.

What is the purpose of a beat calculator?

I’d like to know, too. I’ve never used it, not once. (Never needed to calculate a beat.)
Just curious.

Very simple. You mark a section of an audio event, tell Cubase how many beats it has and Cubase will show you its tempo in bpm.
It is a very small and simple thing but was very useful if you work with audio files without tempo information (especially loops).

Last I heard, it moved to Florida.

Thanks Johnny_Moneto!

I don’t work with loops so was at a loss as to why it was needed other than in a post production setting

I thought he was a rapper!

Googly_Croft you forgot to add “Yo” at the end…that adds street cred

I’m still getting used to “way out, man!”.

And this is exactly what Media Bay is for. Take some time and add your sample directories to it and let it do its thing. If it doesn’t find the metadata already in the file, you can simply tell it how many beats it has, and Media Bay does the work for you.

Once again, I don’t use loops and samples(other than my SFX Library) and I think I’ve opened Media Bay once in all these years of using Cubase and Nuendo and that was to try a falling rain sound from Nuendo’s SFX Library. I still can’t see a use for a beat calculator…the tempo is whatever you recorded at

This is very cumbersome compared to the Beat Calculator.
You seem to be thinking of a multitude of files, all cut precisely to loop.

The actual usage is to quickly record or import something, mark a range from a beat to another, and then use beat calculator. It was not really used for creating a properly curated library of loops.

You are simply not the target group. It’s okay, nobody uses all the features from Cubase.
