Welcome to the Forum

Did you start the Activation Manager and activate your License?

I downloaded the SE version with one email address, then purchased Dorico 5 with a different address and I seem to be stuck in some kind of loop. Activation only remembers the SE email. Can you help me activate Dorico 5? I always get the NO LICENSE FOUND error message. Thank you.

Welcome to the Forum.

Did you purchase the update from SE or a full release. In case of the full release it should not be a problem if you activate it under a new email. However, if it is an update it is looking for the previous release and that requires the same email address.

I’m not sure what you would like to say here. For purchasing the product you can use any emal address. It is not relevant for the activation of your product.

So after you purchased the update, what did you do next?

Usually you get a mail with an Download Access Code. This needs to be entered in the Download Assistant and here it connects the purchased license with an email for the first time.

So if your Download Assistant is logged in with the email address, that is used for the SE release, you should be able to download and install Dorico without any problem.

After the download you can activate the license in the Activation Manager, that needs to be logged in with the same email.

At which point did you change the email?

Thank you Juergen, I appreciate this. We are corresponding with the OLD email - the one I used to register for SE, [redacted] . When I purchased version 5, I used [redacted]. BUT Activation manager has me registered at the jschlefer… address and I can’t change it. Both versions of Dorico appear in the manager, but when I try to open 5, I keep getting the same message…
NO LICENSE FOUND (I can’t upload an image.)

Please do not show complete email addresses here, this is a public forum and you never know what these addresses might be used for.

As I said, when you purchase the license in the online shop you can use any email address you like, it is not linked to the address that you will use later for activation.

That is correct, you can’t simply change the email in the Activation Manager, but you can do that when you log in to your online profile on the Steinberg Website.

So if both versions show up under the same email address in the Activation Manager, do you see the Activate button on the right hand side? Does it show “Activate” for one of them?

That is normal for users that just joined the forum, there are so called trust levels with different capabilities.

This is what I get when I go to activation Manager…

What happens if you sign in with the other email address?

Also this when I sign in…

And this when I log in…

When you entered the Download Access Code, did you get a confirmation that it was successfully redeemed? You could just try to redeem it again in the Download Assistant and see if it works or lead to an error message telling that the code was already used.

When I do that I get…
Download Access Code is already consumed by another user. Please contact your support team.

I imagine someone on the Dorico team will probably have to help you with this directly - most likely you have two Steinberg accounts by accident and consumed the Download Access Code under the other account.

That sounds like what’s happening. How can I get someone from the team to help me out?
Thank you very much.

James, I can confirm that your Dorico SE license and your Dorico Pro 5 license are both registered to the account registered with the email address that ends citytech.cuny.edu.

You need to sign out of the account you’re currently using, and sign in with that account. You need to sign out both in Steinberg Activation Manager, and on the web site.

First, for Steinberg Activation Manager: run SAM on your computer, and from the menu in the top right-hand corner, choose Sign Out.

Next, to sign out on the web site, go to https://account.steinberg.net and click the “hamburger” menu in the top right corner. Choose the Sign Out option from that menu.

You will be returned to the Steinberg home page. Click the little person icon in the top right-hand corner of the web site, and you will be taken back to the log-in page. Log in with the email address that ends citytech.cuny.edu.

Now you are signed back in with the right account, click Sign In in Steinberg Activation Manager, and you will be bounced back to the web site to authorize SAM. When you return to SAM, you should see both your Dorico SE and Dorico Pro 5 licenses appear there. Click Activate next to Dorico Pro 5 to activate your license.

Looks like that did the trick. Thank you. Now to learn the program…
