Where is the Style tab in the Audio Montage preferences?

I have been using Wavelab for a long time (version 6) and this is the first time I have been unable to change the montage colors. The rules do not allow you to change the background color, for example. Now we are all forced to work in either light gray or dark gray! Why did you remove this simple feature that allowed users to create their own interface? I request that it be reinstated so that I can continue to work in a colorful environment rather than a gray one. Thank you.

The past world (wavelab 12pro and its stylish color mode)

In Wavelab 13pro there is no style… but only rules ;-))

These style options have been removed in WaveLab 13.
The reason is that it is extremely hard to make a style without visually breaking things, because of all the WaveLab functions that rely on colors. These include the cursor styles, the visual analysis tools, the clip selection options, and now the powerful color rules with the new palette of 256 colors. The latter is very useful and easy to use once you grasp the concept. I encourage you to try it.

Why would it be more complicated for Wavelab 13 than Wavelab 8? I don’t understand your argument. I’m talking about the background of Wavelab with its grey colour. That’s what we see the most, and we can’t change its colour. And you want me to adapt to grey? What a strange idea. Are you happy to leave musicians and sound engineers in grey all day, every day, all year round? I find that regrettable. And I think I’ll go back to Wavelab 12 if the version remains hopelessly grey.

You actually have the choice between two themes.
This changes both the WaveLab user interface theme and the audio montage theme. Try the light theme to see the difference (and restart WaveLab)

I had already seen this option in the previous version.
Do you think that choosing between light gray and dark gray is a real color choice, as in all previous versions? You are underestimating the role of color in an artist’s day in front of his / her computer..

Not at all, and on the contrary: in WaveLab 13, there is a color palette of 256 entries, versus only 20 in WaveLab 12.
Moreover, in WaveLab 13 there is better track color visualization in the headers.
And again, the new color rule system is a game-changer for users who care about powerful color support.

I’m talking about the background, not the color of the files. It’s as if my laptop screen were stuck on gray with only color buttons. Why? What justifies Wavelab’s theme being hopelessly gray and non-customizable? Who will spend the most time on Wavelab in the end? I’ve been using it for over 15 years. And a gray theme is never my choice. I don’t understand the advantage of Wavelab 13 if you insist on maintaining a gray interface from the North Korea (sorry for this image):joy:

Previously, there were many more colors available in the Style palette of the preferences . It was even possible to select black or white. Currently, this is no longer possible when viewing files in your rules. The preferences appear to offer 256 colors, but in reality, there are less colors than in the Style palette of Wavelab 12.

Why adapt to a graphic charter like this when the previous one was fine? It makes no sense to me. I need my full color palette to work, not 256 colors. I’ll wait for an interesting color offering to come back before I can use version 13,

Give me back my colors!

I don’t understand why you speak about a gray interface since there is a rich color palette at disposal. The dark background provides good contrast with the colors. And if you prefer a light background, then you can still choose the light theme.

And by the way, concerning backgrounds, there is still the possibility to use the WaveLab 12 “highlighted backgrounds” by selecting this option:

As long as you maintain this graphical simplification, Wavelab 13 will not be compatible with my graphical environment ! And I’ll show you why right now. It’s unfortunate that Wavelab is changing graphically without providing any reason or improvement in this area. I will stick with Wavelab 12 until there is a positive change.

thank you Justin for your answers but you can’t defend a new system that doesn’t offer any graphical improvements but instead simplifies the graphic charter. Maybe next time.
