Which Dorico 5 library is enough for simple playback?

Hello everyone,

I’ve downloaded almost 15 GB of libraries for Dorico by now, but honestly I only need a simple playback option to check what I’ve written.
It doesn’t need to sound especially realistic or high quality — I mainly want to hear whether the notes and harmonies work correctly.

Do you have any recommendations for which library or playback setup is sufficient while using as little storage space as possible?

Thanks a lot!

If you are willing to pay a little extra, Noteperformer is a great alternative. (for classical music mostly) Only uses about 1GB of space.
I only use Noteperformer so can’t really say something about the included sounds.

Hey thank you! I just don’t want to invest more in my situation

If you want to stick with the bundled sounds, Halion Sonic Selection and Halion Sonic Factory content (3.35GB) is all you need (though the sounds are very basic).
You can remove the others using Steinberg Library Manager.

Thank you Janus!

Do you have also recomandations for the Groove Agent? I need just the basics and perpas something with jazz brushes…

If you need it, then use it.
Dorico’s Auto playback template will use whatever (dorico) sounds you have installed.

Ah no i mean: i have got 6GB ov Groove Agents and I think I need some basic kit and perhaps the jazz librbary right?
