Cleaning out my hard drive, and noticed that there are a number of Steinberg libraries taking up a good amount of space. (About 12 gig)
Which of these do I have to have to be able to use Dorico?
Steinberg Download Assistant program. Click on Dorico v6 on the left, then on the right should list its installs, similar to this (as you see I have not installed them all).
… but you might be asking which of them you really need?
You can delete all of the Sound libraries and Dorico will still work, just no playback.
If you get an error about essential component not found, simply tickmark the Don’t ask again option and click on Ok.
If I want Dorico to playback, but not interested in high quality, is there a specific one in the sound library what I should keep and delete all others? And if so, which one?
What instruments do you use?
You can browse through each library in the HALion Player, and see what instruments each set contains.
If you’re not interested in high quality, remove Iconica.
You can move the samples to an external drive, of course, using the Steinberg Library Manager app.
If you have NotePerformer (which is a separate purchase, a third-party product not included with Dorico itself) and are happy with its sounds, you can remove all of the sounds that come with Dorico itself.
If you don’t have NotePerformer, you should retain everything installed by the HALion Sonic Selection - Content download choice in SDA. That will allow at least the HALion Sonic Selection playback template to remain in Dorico and give you some basic sounds.
