Which sound library is best for choral compositions?

I am the creator of this video, and itā€™s one of the results of my challenging journey learning Dorico. :joy: Iā€™m glad if it can be of some help to you!

Well if you manage that, then I will certainly be interested. At the moment, the vocal sounds are not the sort of thing Iā€™d want to use but itā€™s obviously a fast-moving field. Of course it will also depend to some extent on the price and in general (with the exception of Adobe) I avoid subscriptions.

Haha, weā€™ll work hard to make it a product worth subscribing to!

I use EW symphonic choirs, but in a DAW - I export the midi from Dorico and assign more complex instrumentation in the DAW, where itā€™s also simpler to deploy articulation maps on all instruments, and the DAW will use the currently supported Opus manager. I use Symphonic Choirs as it not only has SATB voicing, but also a boy choir - the niche combination I happen to need most.

Itā€™s not perfect, but itā€™s realistic enough, more than good enough, to sell my work to unsuspecting customers.

If you can create a choir VST thatā€™s even passable for demos directly in Dorico, youā€™ll have yourself at least one very devoted customer here.

Iā€™d like it better if there were choral sections. Pop soloists on Smithā€™s Preces and Responses induces an alarming amount of cognitive dissonance. : D

edit: in agreement with Dan. (And that means conventional choral phonology - rhoticity, consonants, tall vowels.)

Make that two.

You can add me, too, so long as it was a VST that worked directly in Dorico.

In fact, with the ACE Bridge VST that comes with ACE Studio, you can send AI vocals from ACE Studio to Dorico. Iā€™ve seen a great example of this provided by @Ayaka.

However, it still requires manually importing MIDI to bring the melodies you create in Dorico into ACE Studio for further vocal production. Then, the master output from ACE Studio is sent back to Dorico via the Bridge, allowing you to hear it when you play in Dorico. We feel that this process is still not convenient enough.

We hope that in the new version, users will be able to sync notes from Dorico to ACE Studio directly by clicking a record button, or sync notes while inputting melodies with a MIDI keyboard in Dorico. Of course, achieving a choral effect with a sense of space is also something we aim to complete in the next version.

Thanks for the update @maxine.z. This sounds promisingā€”I look forward to having a look (and listen!) once the new version is released.

yes, please do make sure you post news on this forum of the new version as not all of us will be following the ACE channel.

Sure, Iā€™ll do that!
