I added a fermata over the default whole rest for the last bar in my piece. However, the rest disappears for whatever reason.

In Layout Options, after selecting the appropriate layout in the Layouts list on the right, under Players > Bar rests and Multi-bar Rests check that Show rests in empty bars is checked.

For whatever strange reason, this was not on.
Make sure it’s ticked and saved as default!
Then delete your fermata, select the rest, shift-H, fer, enter
That way, it will be placed exactly where a musician would expect it to be.

I don’t know how that setting got unchecked! Thanks for the help! I think a ghost is in my computer lol.
