Why Am I in a 70's Cover Band?

So true!

Just the one?

If it was in the last set, then more than one!

That solo was a first take by Elliott Randall… :sunglasses:

I still play in a cover band regularly.

Why? Because it’s fun, nothing beats playing live with a group of friends.

… and it pays some of the bills, BTW…

And none too shabby at all! :sunglasses:

Now that I think it over and do the math, I was in a 70’s cover band IN the 1970’s! Guess that makes me an old fekker! :open_mouth:

If you want to add a little originality to your cover set (but certainly don’t claim the numbers are yours) one band close to me trawls the net for their brand of swing-R&B and if the band digs it they put it in the set amid the tried and tested. Audiences actually like this variety now and again. Certainly for that band.
Good if the band don’t write their own.

Most of the C-bands I was part of were R&B rooted, one day our lead singer booked us in to a country and western bar, cuz he needed the money, it almost felt like that scene in the “Blues Brothers” (but without the chicken wire and flying tomatoes). Cool reception at first, but they warmed up to us after a few beers…

I recommend that to all such bands, step outside of your genre and see what happens!

Rollin’, rollin’!!!..
