Why are my repeat regions and bar rests squished?

Hi all - any idea why this is happening? Not changed any defaults, System breaks do nothing. Grateful for any help

Because you removed rests - you don’t need to do that, the bar repeat region covers them up automatically.

Select the last note/rest before the squished bars, then deactivate Ends voice in the Properties panel.

I’ll have you know I think the XML imported did that

What about if there are no notes before the squished bars?

Then try the first note after the squished bars and look for starts-voice.
