So I spent hours learning how to and then substituting a bass drum sound in one of my projects with another, going through sampler, hitpoints, midi etc. and I had rendered. but then I was trying to split another track in Spectralayers and when I opened today, it was corrupted and wouldn’t open. so I went back to a previous save, where I did all, have the right sound, right alignment and go to render in place, and nothing is on the audio track, multiple attempts. What may be wrong?
Hi, @robirdman1
As the content of your Kick Sampler track is a MIDI part, I would try to use either a MIDI track (with an associated MIDI rack instrument) or an Instrument track instead.
The problem, I think, is that there is no instrument associated to your MIDI part, here. From which, there is nothing to render, actually. This said, I never use sampler tracks, but a quick test, using a similar configuration, leads to the same result as yours, so…
The problem is that I had played the drums triggering an RX11 years ago. It was midi and thence to audio. I recently redid the song playing my TD50x kit. I was satisfied with the recording, till I listened to the audio of the old one and the processed rim or stickshot snare, has a woody sound that I much prefer. When I used the same channel settings on the TD50x, it sounded more like a gunshot -unwanted.
So I used this procedure, making a sample of the snare, creating hitpoints from the recent snare shot and from that, a midi part which, when rendered, produced a track playing the same part as the recent one, but with the RX11 sound instead. It was very involved, getting it all right.
So then I went through the same procedure in another song, where I wanted the older bass drum. I went through all the same stages but at the last one nothing rendered. I haven’t figured out what is different. If I just rendered the midi part, it wouldn’t have the processed RX11 sound, it would just be info to assign a sound to, and if assigned to the TD50, just play sound like what was originally there, that I want to replace,
It was a complex procedure but the end results were just what I wanted. When the sampler track plays, the desired bass drum sound plays, but doesn’t render. Maybe I have to go over the entire procedure again to see if I missed something.
Ok. A workaround could be to use the File > Export > Audio Mixdown dialog, with only the relevent tracks selected and using the After Export | Create Audio track option. Worth a try, I guess…
I hadn’t put in the post what project it was and I had been working on several and when I checked the track name, 2 of them had sampled bass drums recently successfully rendered. I had had several crashes forcing me to go back to earlier versions, making it more confusing, I found the project with the matching name and tried once again and it didn’t render. I don’t know how this differed, but I then tried your workaround, exporting thus and it worked, came out as stereo, unwantedly so I redid and wrote over as mono, thanks.
