I, like all of you, was probably incredibly excited about the new major update to our beloved Cubase, but I was so upset about the removal of support for VST 2 plugins. I know you can still enable them, BUT PLEASE TELL ME WHY the latency caused by VST 2 plugins is no longer compensated. Seriously, WHY DID THEY KEEP THEM (VST 2 plugins) IF THEY ARE USELESS.
HOW do you imagine using VST 2 plugins without latency compensation? Everything is wildly out of sync, regardless of buffer settings, ASIO, etc., so we are talking specifically about latency compensation from plugins, which now either needs to be manually adjusted or not adjusted AT ALL. I sincerely pray that Steinberg brings back latency compensation for VST 2 plugins, even though I realize it probably doesn’t make sense anymore. I seriously thought Cubase was the best DAW, until now…
And I would be very happy if I didn’t understand something in Cubase 14 and there was some solution to this latency problem, but so far I don’t see it, maybe you know?
and yes, there are a huge number of VST 2 plugins that are used for design that are not in the VST 3 version
They simply would not intentionally allow vst2 to be enabled without compensation.
As no other report of this I would assume it’s something specific to you. Either a bug or it’s something other than the vsts causing the sync issues.
Did you double check your sample rates…reboot the computer etc
I had a quick look at the few vst2 I have left but they’re all low latency so can’t really test it…if anyone knows of a free vst2 with high latency for testing please post a link.

Same here. I tried to get one channel out of sync using only VST2 plugins but I couldn’t. Maybe because they produce only a low latency, maybe because the compensation still works.
