When I export a file to pdf and it gets put in Planning Center/Music Stand the bar lines appear strangely thick and it makes it harder to read. My friend who uses MuseScore does not have this problem so I am wondering if it is something in the export process of Dorico that I am unaware of that might be causing the problem. Any solutions?

Me too. I’ve used Music Stand exclusively for the past 14 years and haven’t encountered this issue.
What’s the resolution of the iPad you’re using? Is it an old model?
