I wonder why changing view layout, e.g. from Spreads Horizontally to Single Pages Vertically, counts as a change in the document, so if all you did with an open document was make that change, you’d be asked whether to save changes when closing. By contrast, changing view percentage does not count as a change in the document.
It’s confusing since I sometimes open a document, make edits and saving each one, and then look around at other things, maybe changing view layout as I go. When I then close, I’m asked to save changes and I don’t know whether I forgot to save after making the last edit, or I mistakenly clicked the mouse where I should not have and introduced an error, or it’s just view layout.
View Percentage is saved with the document too, but only if you make some other change that needs to be saved. It would make sense if View Layout behaved the same way.
Hi @jrethorst, adding to the observation by @benwiggy, you can check if you changed something unwanted in the History…
Here an example of a saved file, and after changing the Page spread view: it is dirty but as you can see there are no changes in the history: so you are good to go. Or if the history has some items, you can check what you did last:
True, but that can be a little hard to track down, especially with a file that you’ve been working on for a couple of hours. I’d love to see markers in the Edit History that tell you when you last saved the file.
