Why does Cubase produce sound automatically without writing MIDI signals?

image
Hey everyone, even after disconnecting my MIDI keyboard, certain tracks continue to play automatically without any input. This behavior persists across various projects, and I’m unsure of the cause.
Steps Taken So Far:

  1. Checked for Active MIDI Inputs:
  • Verified that no unintended MIDI devices are active.
  • Ensured that tracks are not set to receive input from “All MIDI Inputs” to prevent unwanted signals.
  1. Reset MIDI Connections:
  • Navigated to Studio > Studio Setup in Cubase.
  • Performed a reset of all MIDI ports to clear any residual connections.
I’m reaching out to see if anyone has experienced a similar problem or can suggest additional troubleshooting steps. Could there be a hidden setting or a deeper configuration causing this automatic playback? Any insights or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your assistance!

What do you mean they play automatically? What are they playing?

Could it be a frozen MIDI track?

There are some notes that I never actually played. From the screenshot, you can see there’s an input level even when there’s no MIDI input, which is very strange.

No,I havn’t input any midi signals.

Could it be sysex or CC data?

That is an audio output level.

Check if there is any MIDI plugin on the MIDI Inserts.

Chord track playing?

yeeeeesss!THANK YOU!!I’m preparing to learn more about chord track.

:+1: Good news. I would just add that I tend to have the chord track muted by default - it’s one of those things that can crop up playing a random instrument in a dense mix and you’re wondering where that odd sound is coming from. Been there and done that!
