Why, having bought and used Dorico for years, does it suddenly not open and tell me it’s not licensed? Nothing I’ve tried seems to fix anything. (I had the same problem with Steinberg effect suite and it took them 3 weeks to reply and get it sorted.) Is there any reason to stick with Steinberg when these things can suddenly, inexplicably just bring all work to a halt? Thanks for any advice.
Matthew,
welcome to the forum.
First place I would look is your My Steinberg account. You can access it via a web browser at:
Make sure to use the right email address when logging in.
It will show your Steinberg products and on which computers your Dorico license is activated:
I note that this dialog references eLicenser. Are you aware that the eLicenser service shut down last year?
Thanks for replies..I’m aware now that I’ve missed the deadline, apparently. I went back through my emails and see that, yes, I was told ‘early 2025’ there would be a shift. Here we are – in the month of ‘early’, apparently. Anyway, I must admit I didn’t really understand the significance of that email at the time, nor did I note any deadline for acting. My account shows that Dorico is still on eLicenser (attached). They did sort out my FX suite after three weeks of waiting for a reply. I suppose I can sit and hope in February they make get me back in business. Again, thanks for the quick replies – very much appreciated.
(This is 2026.)
One of the Steinberg folks on this forum should be able to help get you sorted out.
Oh yeah – I’ll wake up at some point….thanks!
Yes absolutely, because they will help you - even if it might have been your own carelessness…
Hi @mjmartin64 ,
since you use Dorico SE you should be able to help yourself. You simply requests a Dorio 6 SE license, install everything anew and you are done.
