Why does Steinberg refuse to embrace Yamaha's awesome history of hardware to model?

I have never understood why Steinberg does not embrace the massive list of awesome hardware from Yamaha to model. All the effects, synths, consoles, etc. There is none of it in Cubase, or even HALion.
I know about the EQ and the compressor that were included with a few interfaces that are 10+ years old and I think they have been discontinued, but really that’s it.
Please tell me why.

A load of the sounds in Halion / Halion Sonic are directly from the Motif synths

Those are pushing 15-20 yes in age, “sounds” have improved since then … I hope they have been updating Halion Sonic sounds over time!

Well Yamaha is still in business for themselves… Perhaps they don’t want Steinberg ‘modeling’ their old synths and have plans for them on their own.

Just because one company owns another, does not mean the two intermingle and assets/IP are free to share between the two.

If you’re signed to Capitol records, that doesn’t mean you just get to grab Beatles records and sample the hell out of them for your own use. A person writing a film for Disney doesn’t just get to throw Star Wars/Marvel/Disney characters into their rom-com for the hell of it.

Seems like a missed opportunity. Steinberg is Yamaha’s production arm.

Huh?

More like Yamaha is Yamaha’s production arm.

I’m sure Yamaha still has to approve any big decisions (maybe not) but they don’t get involved in Cubase/Nuendo and Steinberg has no say in Yamaha’s products either. Sure they own Steinberg, but those two companies are still completely separate entities when it comes to their internal development and product lines and they do not intermingle.

In terms of scale, Steinberg is a small blemish on Yamaha’s nose.

Yamaha has released two VSTi’s that I know of - the Tyros 4 and the Montage M. Both are pretty current and both suggest that Yamaha wants to go the VSTi route on its own.

FM Lab in Halion 7?

That’s true - that’s a perfect example of Yamaha tech in cubase

Yamaha should give Steinberg a big kick in the … .Right direction

I was working for Yamaha when they bought Steinberg and that was Music to my ears
i expected to see some form of Hardware / Software collaboration still waiting .,
Maybe a Cubase front end or a Montage with Cubase AI built in who knows?..
