Why Groove Agent- Songwriters?

I have easy drummer, three and superior drummer III as well. I am a recent convert from logic Pro. In logic, you can use the virtual Drummer in conjunction with arrangement markers so that the virtual Drummer will fill in parts commensurate with the part of the song in the arrangement. I’m looking at possibly buying the full version of groove agent but the thing that would throw me over the edge about it is if there was some integration with Cubase 14 similar to that logic pro. In other words, what would make it better for me than easy Drummer is the integration with Cubase hopefully with the arrangement track. Do any of you know of such a feature exist?

I’m a songwriter and use GA pretty well all the time. The ability to play loops and then have an automatic fill every 4, 8, 12 or 16 bars is great for practicing and writing.

It won’t do that post-recording thing where it will figure out what to play by itself.

For what it’s worth, I have friends who use that feature and it always sounds like crap to me - sloppy and messy. If I used logic I wouldn’t use that but drums are always pretty key with me.

YMMV. I think if you use GA le (or whatever the version that comes with Cubase is now called, SB has always had naming issues - you’ll get used to it) you’ll have a pretty good idea of how it works.

BTW - the interface to GA (and I’ve been using it ever since the new version with the drum set picture for editing was) sucks donkey butt. It’s not intuitive at all and finding the rhythm you need is mostly just loading things in to see what they sound like.

There is a lot of power there but it takes time to figure out how it works.

I wonder if they are working on an updated version that will answer some of the donkey-butt-sucking but with SB, you never know.

Hi. I do songwriting and am a heavy GA user. I originally started with it as I was on Cubase. Now I moved DAWs but still use GA as a VST. Under Cubase it integrates very well with the drum editor and so on. Not sure it can do the virtual drummer on the fly thing in arranger.
