Dorico is changing some of my noteheads on XML import of drum notation. Very often a snare drum is turned into an “X” notehead (changing it to cross-stick) or the “X” of the high hat is turned into a solid note (making it become a high tom).
Why?
Dorico does the best it can to retain the appearance of drum set writing when importing MusicXML files. There could be issues either with the export (i.e. that the exported MusicXML file encodes different noteheads than you expect) or with Dorico’s import, but we’d need to see the MusicXML file itself and to know from you which things specifically are not as you expect in order to tell you what’s going on.
