Hello, I have a measure which needs repeating 8 times. So in the Engrave options, I set Play n times to 8, then set Count location to End. However, the string Play 8 times is not shown in my file.
How can I fix this?

you have an independent time signature: Dorico will not display “Play n times” when you have independent TS. See this post:
In this situation you can add it as staff attached Text (Shift+X), using the Repeat Count Paragraph Style:
@Christian_R Pretty new at all of this. I don’t have an independent time signature, at least not consciously. I started with 4/4 time signature and added a few system breaks, just for some layout purposes.
Attaching my simple file. If you can find where I might unknowingly have set another time signature, it would help me a lot.

Indeed the problem is caused by something different: your repeat structure is invalid, as you can see from the proofreading on the right panel.
You need to add a start repeat barline at begin of bar 3 and bar 5. Then you will see the Play 8 times appear again (possibly inserting the repeat barlines, some of those indications are overwritten and you need to reactivate them in the properties panel)
(At the end of bar 6 you have a manual inserted final barline, if this is unintentional, select it and press delete: then you will need a start repeat saline at the beginning of bar 7)

The second and third bar have the additional measure to have almost same sized measures on all bars. The sheet I’m making is more for self-training purposes side by side with the chords+lyrics sheet I’m given by my instructor.
