Why is Steinberg Download Assistant showing updates for apps I don’t own?
It shows as missing sounds 9.7 GB for Verve Piano that I don’t even own… WTF
Perhaps you have a Steinberg Host or bundle that includes Verve.
Verve Piano was/is included with (optional to install):
Cubase Pro (All Versions from 11 forward currently supported via Steinberg Download Assistant (SDA)
Cubase Artist (All Versions currently supported via SDA)
Absolute 7
Nuendo (All versions from 11 forward supported via SDA)
Perhaps there some others as well. These are simply examples that I could quickly discover after a minute of browsing through SDA.
Not sure about older versions that need the eLicenser dongle and aren’t fully supported via SDA, but it might have come with some of those as well. Since those older versions are no longer supported via SDA, I’d need to go dig it up from websites to see what they came with.
Note: Verve is optional to install. If you think it might be installed and you’d like to remove it, you can do so through your Steinberg Library Manager.
Quite a bit of HALion/Sonic and Groove Agent content comes with your Steinberg Host. I.E. Having a Cubase Pro key will unlock a whole bunch of Instruments, Libraries, Loop Packs, and more.
Also check your MySteinberg account for ‘vouchers’. Sometimes Steinberg might gift us with individual instruments or other content packs that require a unique key of its own. You can claim such keys through vouchers.
You can also claim a number of free HALion/Sonic instruments by scrolling to the bottom of this page:

These are examples of instruments that aren’t automatically unlocked by a host key like Cubase Pro; but rather get a unique key of their own in your Activation Manager.
This is an issue Steinberg is aware of and it’s working on a fix.

Steinberg released an update for Steinberg Download Assitant. By opening SDA it got that update automatically. That’s the reason why you don’t see this message anymore.
Steinberg Library Manager actually.
For the love of God, I still mix them up every now and then… Unbelievable.
That’s why I gave it its new name: From now on it shall be called “Assitant”…
