Why is the chord dialog showing F but the chord renders as f-flat?

Hi all,

peculiar issue here. Working on a lead sheet in one flat (dm, f major). For some reason when I put in any chord that is just “F” or “A” it is now rendering as Fb and Ab.

no clue how this got started but can’t see any dialogue where this can be fixed.

If I type “f” it renders as Fb, if I type F7 or Fm it renders as that. Same thing with A (and presumably any other letter name chord.

all suggestions welcome.

update: the file has now “updated” all of my single letter chord names to root-b. Do I have to just abandon this file altogether? I obviously can’t import xml or flows into a new file.

Could you share the project ?

Yes. i should remove the playback template to make it small enough to share, is that correct?

Use the Silence Playback template.

If you remove the overrides under Library→Chord Symbols by pressing Reset to Default. You can increase the size of the Chord Symbol Music Text Font under Library→Fonts instead to get bigger flats and sharps. Also check the many options under Library→Engraving Options→Chord Symbols.

Very helpful Jesele, but this isn’t addressing the problem. When I want the chord to be “F” and I type “F” into the chord dialog box, I do not want the chord symbol to show “F-flat”
