when saving a preset for an VST-Instrument, I can double click on the “character-value” in the attribute inspector” and get the edit-character field with all those radio-buttons.
When saving a track-preset, there’s only an attribute “properties”, but not “character”. If I select my track-preset in MediaBay, I can edit the “character” afterwards. So why isn’t “character” part of the “save track-preset” dialogue?
Hi,
my best guess is that Steinberg deemed some categories to be more important or fitting to a specific preset type than another one. If you compare track presets and instrument presets there’s just one different category if you save them from within the project:
Track Presets include Properties and
Instrument Presets include Character instead.
However, you’ll find descriptions in the category Character in factory Track Presets so that’s kind of inconsistent.
I am not aware of an option to pick categories when saving presets. So, that’s a valid question you are asking. As I said, my guess is that Steinberg sees one category more fit to represent a certain preset type than another one.
