Why my export is creating sub folders?

When i’m rendering, Wavelab doesn’t export in the folder i am pointing at.

Here that would be the folder named Master.

Instead, it creates a folder named Volume and then repeat the path.

Any idea why & how to fix this?

It would be helpful if you could show us a screenshot of the render path that you set before rendering to make sure there isn’t anything unexpected there.

Yes of course sorry.

Here is the path in Wavelab:

I wonder if it’s related to the “Audio Montage” thing in your render path. I forgot what it’s called and I think it was added for WaveLab 12 but I did not care for it and don’t use it…so therefore I can’t even remember what it’s called or how to get rid of it but you can get rid of it.

The thing @Paid_Steinberg_Bot_4 mentioned is the issue, the contextual folder. Using this, WaveLab will automatically save a rendered file to the same path that contains the montage file, so if you add any path beyond this, WaveLab will use or create the sub-folder structure accordingly.
To use an absolute path of your own you have to remove the blue highlighted “Audio Montage” contextual folder field from your render path (easily done by clicking on the arrow to the left of it).
If you want to render into the same folder or sub-folder as the montage, you can keep the contextual folder, but just add a “/Master” (or whatever you like).

Thank you both.

That is exactly that, very helpful!

No problem. Sorry I couldn’t be more specific but I’ve turned this option off since day 1 because I really don’t understand the value of it…but I had a feeling that was it.

It seems to confuse people easily.

As long as you want your renderings to be part of your audio montage folder, you can set the subfolder once and never have to worry about it later (this is saved in rendering presets). This is useful for users who want to have everything stored in a single folder (the montage folder).
If your renderings are outside your audio montage folder, then yes, you don’t want to use this option.

Yes, that’s a fair point. I think the main point of confusion is the “Audio Montage” portion of the path looks so different visually that it’s hard to notice what it’s telling you and also, since it’s a new feature it’s weird to have it be on by default.

I think those two things are tripping people up but I digress…
