I have the Proteus 2000 set both as midi and as Instrument track in a project. As I was setting balances with volume control, I found that the PK2 as external instrument, doesn’t respond to volume changes. I can raise all the way up or down under the channel or in the inspector and it play just as (too) loud. There is no volume controller in MIDI list. In the inspector, it responds to program changes but not volume changes. What might be set wrongly?

I’m not sure that I got the routing involved : I guess that ‘PK2’ is an acronym for the Proteus 2000, but I see it as a MIDI input in your ‘fast bub’ track and, as long as I remember the Proteus is a hardware synth module. I also see ‘fast bub’ as output of the same instrument track. Beside this, where are the ‘Chank’ and ‘arp’ MIDI tracks routed to ?
More generally, I avoid to use external instruments in Instrument tracks : among other issues, these have no MIDI volume available as automation parameter (they have an audio one, though). So, I would suggest to use the Proteus 2000 as an instrument rack instead, with a MIDI track to control it. The latter has MIDI Volume available for automation as default and it reliably works, on my end, using a TX802 as hardware sound source :
