I record, sounds good. I mix, sounds great. I export and open in another program, sounds terrible. why do all of my basses become distorted? I dropped it into audacity to turn down the gain; then into itunes to boost the overall volume, but it’s still not loud enough and I’ve lost a lot of quality from bouncing it around so much. Any ideas?
When you play back the project in Cubase, is the master fader reaching 0 or above?
If so, I would try putting a safety limiter on the entire mix (release at minimum, input 0, and and output at about
-.3). If you haven’t mastered it yet, of course you would want to do that instead.
