Why the huge space between instruments?

I have just two instruments in my score. Dorico creates a huge vertical space between the two instruments and an almost as large vertical space between systems. Saner would be to have the two instruments reasonably close together at the price of an even larger vertical space between systems.

How do I fix this?

P.S. how do I attach a screen shot?

I would go into Layout options and click on “Reset to Factory”. Probably you changed the vertical spacing options.

Layout Options—Vertical Spacing—Justification. Increase the values in the first box to a higher number, like 80, and watch what happens.
