Will I be able to install Cubase 14/15 in addition to Cubase 12 on my PC (VST 2 concerns)

Hi there. Just wondering whether it is definitely possible to install and run two versions of Cubase on the same PC. I am running Cubase 12 at the moment & have a licence for 14 but haven’t installed it yet due to concerns about backward compatibility and loss of older VSTs. Some of my Cubase projects date back to 2004. And of course there’s the issue of getting VST 2 software to run.

I’d be keen to upgrade to 15 too, but these same worries concern me. I don’t want to lose older projects/sounds/instruments.

Yes, you can have all major versions of Cubase installed in parallel. No problem.

Yes, they are all separate programs.

Cubase 14 and 15 disable VST2 by default, but you can enable them in the Plugin Manager. However, support for VST2 is no longer available, but that is regardless of the Cubase release.

VST2 work fine in c15. You just need to enable it plugin manager.

Great. And no licencing clashes/issues?

Yes, I saw that and was relieved. But it sounds like 15 might be the last time?

Well, for anything that doesn’t have the “new” licensing system (pre-C12), you will of course need a working eLicenser and the elicenser Software installed.

Else, you can use any older version with your current license.

Watch out for the Score Editor. The Score Editor in 14 is brand new. It’s not compatible with previous versions.
Other than that - what everyone else has said.
