Guys, what can I say?
For years I’ve been working with Cubase and this DAW has a lot of good aspects to it. But for quite some time now I got more and more fed up with the bugs, old design ideas, the shortcomings. This program is living in the past.
I started to look around for another DAW some months ago. Not an easy time as I have become so accustomed to Cubase that it was really hard to learn something new. Most other DAWs felt just alien. Until I tried this one DAW where all pieces just came together for me. It does everything that I need it to do and the workflow just matches my way of thinking. I am talking about Reason, of course.
By some lucky coincidence, I guess, I also ran into one of the guys working there… to make a long story short: Not only will I switch to Reason but they also asked to participate in their forums and help others. It seems I will get paid to support them.
So, I guess you’ll understand that I can’t do both Reason and Cubase forums at the same time. So this is my last day here today. I’d just like everybody who interacted with me to know that it was a lot of fun. Thanks for answering all the (stupid) questions that I had and thanks for being patient with me while I tried to figure things out.
You guys rock, but Reason just rocks more.
Johnny.
I appreciate the “going away” message. However, you could just go away the same way many others have. You know, like just never post another message and vanish into nothingness.
There is no “Reason” to post this. Just do what you need to do. The rest of us will carry on just fine.
Congratulations for your research! Steinberg is a leader of development and innovation, a lot of inspiration for other DAWs, Cubase is a beast for every task we need, for sure there are allways something to enhace and they have to be at the industry level, the only real drawback IMO are the plugins (Reverb, Compressor, EQ, Saturation, Clipper, Mastering Limiter), i preffer third parties.
My name is George, and I’m currently on PreSonus. I’ve always thought the world of them for years, and their innovation is incredible. Up until a couple of years ago I was died in the wool Sonar veteran going back to DOS 5. I had the naive notion that when it came to MIDI that ALL DAWs managed it the same way, but silly me. PreSonus manages their clock in a completely unorthadox fashion that just doesn’t make sense when you’re trying to divide beats into 16ths and 16th triplets into 99 it just DOES NOT WORK. And the notes slip and slide from where they’re supposed to be. Anyhoo, I wanted to get your vibe on specifically what turned you off about Cubase, and what turned you ON about Reason? Appreciate your reply.
you know what… I changed my mind. I’ll stay with Cubase and possibly also this forum.
The cables of Reason got in my way way too often.
What a difference a day makes. Especially when that day is April 1st.
1 more question. Is Reason a DAW primarily for loops for Hip-hop, Rap, and for lack of a better phrase, club/dance music? If so, I don’t need it. I’m strickly Naturale.
