It would be very nice to have a final, compatibility update during the V13 product cycle of Nuendo.
The program has been performing well but it must be assumed that changes with the underlying OS warrant such a move, and it would give those users more time to contemplate the next version of this most excellent DAW software application.
I would expect maintenance releases beyond the N14 release. No reason not to, and official support will probably extend to a year or so. But I wouldn’t hold my breath for a “final update before N14” arrives. This is just my opinion, of course. You’ll know in a few weeks either way
I believe there have been updates in the past, prior to a new whole numbered version, or generation being released so I have no reason to believe that this won’t be the case, this time around and that the reason is: so Steinberg can continue to offer great specials to already satisfied customers, since as it has been stated, stability is of the utmost importance, in particular for currently supported products.
It is not uncommon for Steinberg to issue one last update to the previous version of Cubase / Nuendo, but it always arrives well after the release of the new version.
Everybody will be heads-down at the moment getting V14.0.20 out the door.
That’s probably one of the best things about Steinberg that I can note but I also like the benevolence of the company to actually offer specials at appropriate times, so users never feel ripped off and can take advantage of decent discounts whenever they decide to upgrade.
I’d like to know where that was mentioned but all in all, Steinberg do a better job at updates these days, by releasing new versions, which by definition are payable in advance of cherished stability improvements and enhancements.
