After you’ve purchased a license you get an email with a Download Access Code. At this point the license is not yet added to your account. To actually register the license, you have to redeem the code, i.e. enter it in the Download Assistant. This is the process that’s crucial for the grace period. So, just keep the code in a safe place after the purchase until the grace period starts.
