Windows 11 update knocks out elicenser, now cannot use?

Post Windows 11 update Elicenser no longer functions (as since May Cubse no longer uses this) and has been deleted from my computer.

I have downloaded the latest version of the Download Assistant and been able to install my Cubase 11 Pro. However it will not open, I just get an Elicenser error message.

Concerningly when I open my Activation Manager & logged in there is now nothing in there?!

Hi,
you need to install the latest eLicenserControlCenter from here:

Don’t forget to plugin your USB eLicenser - Cubase 11 won’t run without it.

To add what @Reco29 wrote, Cubase 11 stays on the eLicenser. It has nothing to do with the Activation Manager. That is used from Cubase 12 and onwards.

Thanks @JuergenP , you are right, a little more info is helpful

Just a FYI @Mark_G :
If you want to check which licenses belong to the old realm of the elicenser and which ones have been updated - log into your MySteinberg account.
You’ll see two different entries:

If there’s an eLicenser icon behind your license it means your eLicenser is needed unless there’s another entry with the same license that also shows this product without icon.
Maybe check for vouchers while you are there - these licenses were transferred to the new licensing system for free.

There’s an option in the SDA settings that forces the SDA to install the eLicenser software.

Oh, I didn’t know about that option.

They are not very clear about it in the help menu, though. It’s more or less information about the eLicenser in general. Did you activate this option? Will the eLCC just be installed in case it requires an update?

I’ve just done a complete re-install of Windows 10 (It’s what I do!).
I always go through the settings of every program I install, that’s when I noticed this option:
Optional Runtime Components
Underneath it says it installs the eLicenser next time the SDA is opened.
So I checked it, closed it, opened it and it installed the software (version 6.12.11.1328, hopefully the last version).

Thanks @Googly_Smythe

Yes, that’s what I read, too. I should have been more clear with my question, my bad. I was asking myself if the eLicenser would be installed each time you launch the SDA or just once or in case there’s an update (unlikely). You 'd probably have some notifications on your screen by now (I guess).
Anyways, it’s just a detail - I just thought you knew.

Thanks folks for being so prompt with this - as a result I have been able to install Elicenser and, as a result, open Cubase.

However it opens an old Elements 11 version not my Pro version and the Pro version will not open? I have succesfully updated the Pro version and it shows in the Download Assistant, but not in the Activation Manager (which shows no licenses?) or My Steinberg?

Just the once, and yeah, updates are unlikely!

Hi,

first of all, please make sure to use the correct credentials- that has been the culprit many a times.
What do you see if you log into your MySteinberg account? I assume you have an USB eLicenser - what does it read in your account?
How do you open Elements 11? Do you use an old project?
Did you do a separate update from Elements to Pro back then?

That’s a shame. Good times - Cubase sounded so much more analog with the physical USB-eLicenser. I miss it

EDIT: I should probably delete this nonsense…

Cubase Pro 11 required an USB eLicenser back then and it still does today … are you sure you don’t have one? If you don’t have an USB eLicenser - are you sure you upgraded to the Pro version?

I used to make sure I let the PC warm up for half an hour, to get that real analogue crunch!

Hear, hear!
Yes, nothing beats the old tube dongle sound

@Mark_G Sorry for this nonsense, I hope you don’t mind. We are with you! Let us know if you found the USB eLicenser, please  Of course, it looks nothing like this.

Indeed, me too. Sorry for the OT.

:upside_down_face: no dongle but this one

Sorry guys, but you know in your heart the true analog sound was only really achievable with the Gen 1 Ilok.

I mean, look at the thing…
