Windows 11 will only use my interface as output but not input (so can not yet use it

I had been using Cubase on a Mac, but I’ve now switched to a PC because it is an all-in-one with a big screen, better for recording. Mind, when I first set up Cubase then v10on Mac I had problems setting up the I/O connection with my interface. I am now using v12 though I doubt that makes a difference.

I suspect this is Windows problem not a Cubase issue: the interface (a basic ID4) works fine when set up as the Cubase output via the PC but for some odd reason the ID4 is listed as an available out put devices but Windows refuses to list it as an input device.

Before posting thins, I’ve been through as many Windows help articles as I could find but no joy.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

NB I almost exclusively use Macs but I am not a compete novice with Windows, so, for example, I made sure all drives are up-to-date.

I have made screenshots but there seems no facility for attacing them to this post.

Hi,

You can install ASIO4ALL and use this as the ASIO driver.

How does it look like in the Audio Connections > Inputs?

Just drag and drop them if you got the files. If you have the screenshots on clipboard just use paste

Did you install the ASIO driver for the ID4 or do you use the Steinberg ASIO driver? If the latter, please follow the instructions in the (well written) manual to set it up correctly with the Audient ASIO driver:

Here are the screenshots

Hi,

This might be a generic driver, not an ASIO driver, which you need for Cubase.

Windows audio has nothing to do with Cubase audio using ASIO…it’s not like on Mac where you set up in the OS.

Install the driver Fese linked above: In Cubase go to studio setup/Audio System and choose Audient as the ASIO driver. Check in Audio connections that ins and outs are set up as you want them.

On a Windows PC, the Windows settings have absolutely no meaning for Cubase.
As others already said download the ASIO driver for your device, then go to the Studio menu in Cubase, select Studio Setup.

Select Audio System on the left pane and then the ASIO driver in the drop down menu on the right.

Again, ignore Windows.
