Windows media player won't play mp3's while using Cubase

Hi,

Since I run my Cubase elements 5 on my new Windows 8 computer, I’m having troubles wiht playing mp3’s with my windows media player. I searched everywhere, but I can’t find out what’s the problem.
When I plug out my CI2+ soundcard it runs perfectly en direct, but when I plug in my soundcard media player says it can’t play de format after staring up Cubase. My previous computer worked with Windows XP (sorry! :cry: ) and I didn’t experiance any troubles than.

Can anyone tell me how I can solve this issue? In english or dutch will be fine. Thanks!

Hi,

One ASIO driver cannot be shared with two (or more) applications at the same time (if the ASIO driver doesn’t support multi-client ASIO; most of drivers don’t Support it). So, use another kind of driver (same sound card) in WM Player (i.e. the system settings), like Low Latency driver or DirectX, etc.
