Windows notebook

Hi! What are your experiences? Cubase 14 pro, on which Windows notebook does it ideally run, e.g. DELL G15 I7? Does anyone have something similar in use?

I have an intel asus which works just fine when I am on the road… BUT it makes an insane amount of noise.
I would say buy a MAC. or maybe wait for the official version of Windows ARM Cubase and run a Snapdragon. I don’t know about the new AMD laptops how they work for music production

I’m a TV composer and I use C14 with a Lenovo P53 workstation (i9, 64gb) which was top of the line 5 years ago. Still works well when I need to be mobile.

It’s tricky with Windows laptops though - A decent Mac will pretty much work well regardless but Windows laptops are more hit and miss even when the specs seem to be good. That’s why I got recommendations from other working TV composers before getting the Lenovo. I wanted something guaranteed to do the job.

Your mileage may vary.

I use a MacBook Pro 2019 (64GB RAM, i9). It works stable, but switches to high CPU load, gets warm, and then isn’t quiet at all - cpu fan is running.
Your’re may be more lucky with newer MacBooks.

have a look for a refurb or second had M1 max macbook pro. They’ve dropped a lot in price used now because the M4 are here but a well spec’d M1 max is a powerful and quiet mobile machine that runs C14 very well… only VST3 plugins though.

otherwise the Windows ARM, snapdragon machines are crazy powerful with C14 but I don’t think there are many native plugins yet. RME now has ARM drivers as does Steinberg.
