Scrolling is too fast, but in EQ it’s too slow.
Sometimes tools switch to wrong tools or get stuck at wrong tool.
Hi,
Your mouse can affect this. And this is also very subjective.
Could you be more specific, please? When does it happen? How do you select the tool (mouse-click; right-click menu; Key Command)?
Could you be more specific, please?
Mouse doesn’t matter, because scroll speed settings can be adjusted, but the problem is that Cubase multiplies the speed by about 10x for certain scroll parameters, and not for others.
One tool issue is after switching to pointer tool from resize tool, the tool gets stuck visually in the resize tool.
And often after cut tool the cursor line doesn’t show correct position , have to minimize Cubase and maximize it again to get it to work properly again
Could you please elaborate on the specific areas where you believe the mouse wheel behavior is incorrect? Additionally, it would be beneficial to know which input device and model you are using.
on a Mac It’s not good overall, the worst in VariAudio vertical scrolling, EQ movements, project window scrolling, media bay and loop browser scrolling, when using scrollwheel on mice or scroll ring on trackballs.
I tried many mice and trackballs and its the same on all ( tried apple mouse, but didn’t like its argonomics so returned it as well, but I don’t remember how bad or good the scrolling was with it ), Tried Kensington Slimblade, ExpertMouse and Orbit (both wired and wireless versions), currently using: generic staples mouse, Alienware mouse ( not sure of the model number ) and Logitech MX3 Anywhere (Mac version).
it seems like the scrolling movements are 10x or 100x faster than eveything else on a Mac, I think the programmers put a decimal point in a wrong places in Cubase code that is responsible for relaying scroll speed data from MacoS
On MacOS 15.4.1, Cubendo14.0.20 I don’t experience any of this, and I’ve got my trackpad at maximum tracking speed. I only use the trackpad for pointer/gesture input and have never had this issue. Currently using both a MBP M3 Max and Studio M3 Ultra, the MBP of course using the built-in trackpad and the Studio M3 using a BT Trackpad.
Sorry if that doesn’t help you identify your issue, but I don’t have that problem on multiple systems.
Oh yea, when using MacBook’s built in trackpad the scrolling is good. I think apple Magic Mouse also works fine.
But I can’t stand using these devices, I can’t get used to any trackpads at all, and Magic Mouse was giving me pain after about 20 minutes of usage.
Looks like you’ve got another issue then. Cubase obviously relies on the OS/driver for identifying gesture and pointer actions, so it’s not like they have “a decimal point in the wrong place in the code” to begin with in that regard. Often times manufacturers include device-dependent options for “x’s scrolling” and paging, etc so maybe you’ve got some fine-tuning to do there.
I think if you want any actual help here (like anyone being able to reproduce what you’re talking about) then you’ll need to put forth a little effort and identify where this happens. Saying “it’s 10x for some but not others” without saying which the “some” and “others” isn’t going to get you very far. A video showing the exact behavior would also be nice; that said, it probably doesn’t have anything to do with Cubase based on everything you’ve said.
it’s definitely a Cubase issue. I also use Logic and ProTools. and scrolling works fine in both of them, and of course in all other apps.
But, I’ll try to make a video of this issue sometime.
If you search the forum you’ll find posts about it from other users. here’s one example: Is there a mouse-scroll multiplier option? Or other ways to get slower scroll? - #24 by MGil
Yes, I saw that thread. It’s a different “issue.” You’re reporting different scrolling speeds on different plugins/parameters. I’ll leave you to it, though. It’s a bit odd that you can reference other threads and list off multiple manufacturers where you’ve purchased other hardware, but you refuse to simply list out the exact plug-in and parameter after all these posts. You did the same thing last year in the thread you mentioned. I mean, you do you, but it’s just a bit strange to go through all this trouble and not actually provide any real information.
But good luck!
no, plugins are fine. only things that have scrolling issues are cubase windows and cubase EQ parameters in channel strip.
there is no need to list plugins since plugins are fine. the list of parameters I stated before multiple times: all cubase windows and cubase EQ parameters in channel strip.
it’s definitely a Cubase issue, since other DAWs all other apps have normal scrolling behavior.
I’m going to presume you actually think you did this (list them multiple times) and that you’re not just trolling people here. Not that it matters, as this can’t be reproduced, but if your intent is to communicate effectively and identify behavior that very well may be valid code issues, this simply isn’t the way to do it, sir/ma’am. What you said was “EQ is slower,” whatever that means. You then said “EQ movements” whatever that means. The previous post was the first time you ever even identified that you were talking about changing EQ parameters in the channel strip.
Again, it doesn’t matter at all. But it could have if just a few minutes were taken to quantify what you were talking about. You’ve spent more time talking about “buggy” this and “code that” and “decimal point in the wrong place” than you did even bothering to use the words “channel strip” anywhere. I’m not disparaging you or the issue, just trying to point out that if you want to be effective, maybe spend a minute or two actually addressing what you consider the problem to be.
Even with the Magic Mouse (which I don’t normally use but turned on to test) there’s no issue on my end using the scroll to adjust EQ parameters for a selected band in the default Channel Strip features. It’s actually quite smooth and effective. I can’t test what all these “other areas” you’re talking about because you didn’t say what they were. And that’s fine. I hope you get it sorted, and wish you a great rest of your day.
Not even remotely happening here either..
MacOS 15.5, Cubase Pro 14.0.20.
Both my Logitech MX Ergo and Master 3S are great and scrolling works as it does in every other app and the OS itself.
Same. The OP talked about how SmoothScroll was “a disaster” on MacOS in another post, so that (or some other app) may still be installed and getting in the way. No issues at all on multiple machines.
And MAN, you didn’t take long hopping on the 15.5 train!! I’m next!
I hate to say it (don’t follow my example kids), but I tend to do it right away for better or worse haha. My old roommate/drummer/best friend used to hate it, because he was a ProTools guy and was used to not touching his Mac until Digidesign told him it was ok.
I’m usually at work when MacRumors posts they come out, so since I’m the ‘Mac guy’ here I always update the MBP at work right away along with my iPhone and iPad Pro, because some customer is going to call in a couple hours and complain their touch screen or something broke with it. That way I can go ‘I just grabbed that monitor from the warehouse and mine is working fine, let’s see what you did to your machine now’.
This one I actually got in the morning before I left for work somehow. I left it updating and hoped it wasn’t dead when I got off work haha.
