Thank you all who have tried to solve this. It really has been a mystery but I think now that I have solved it with your help.
I already knew of all the solutions that you so kindly provided, but it was the order of doing them that made all the difference.
I made the mistake of NOT directly restarting my computer after I had first used the uninstall tool of Korg, THEN also disabled the device in device manager, and most importantly NOT reattached the unit. (if I did, the driver would bounce back no matter what)
There is no prompt about restarting directly after uninstall and also nothing about that the unit should be not be reconnected until restart, which caused all the headaches for me.
Doing all this in the right order and I ended up with the generic driver that DOES now show up in cubase. Now I will se what is the better way of setting it up, either using the korg tool (not midi driver), or setting it up in cubase. The problem with cubase is that many controls don’t seem to work there.
Anyway. Hopefully helpful for others with a similar problem.
