Hi, after purchasing the iPad Pro M4 with an original Magic Keyboard, my work has completely changed. I use my iPad much more often and work on it incomparably faster! It is a real joy to be able to use a keyboard on my iPad nearly in the same way as I do on my MacBook Pro.
I am totally aware that Dorico for iPad was created for customers who still want to access all the functionality exclusively with touch. However, I must say some particular differences between macOS and iPadOS are slowing my work on the iPad quite remarkably. Here are some examples and my wishes for upcoming versions of Dorico for iPad:
-
Selection of a particular area: Select the first note, hold Shift, and click on the last note. On macOS, such selection of a particular area functions beautifully and I use it a lot (!!!). However, on Dorico for iPad, you must first select the “arrow” button, make your selection, and then remember to deselect it. It significantly slows the workflow. Could this function be activated automatically as soon as an external keyboard is attached? Dorico could probably select the “arrow” button as soon as one note is selected and Shift is held down, and then deselect it when Shift is no longer pressed.
-
Selection of separate notes: The same issue applies here. If I select one note and press Cmd, Dorico could probably temporarily select the “+” button and allow me to select specific notes as long as this key is pressed down.
-
Drag selection: It would be great if one day it would be possible to drag a selection up/down or to another stave, as it is possible on macOS using an attached trackpad.
-
Esc button functionality: As the new Magic Keyboard already has an Esc button, it would be great if the Dorico team would consider adding its functionality to the iPad version as well.
Dorico for iPad handles so many useful keyboard shortcuts, such as lengthening or shortening the duration, changing pitch, octave, moving, repeating, or respelling notes. It would be great if these shortcuts with Shift and Cmd I mentioned before would work the same way as on the desktop version.
