I use the same audio interface, in another DAW midi is recorded in cubase 14 nothing
Surely it’s not hard to at least let us know what audio interface you have, along with what OS, we are not mind readers.
Hi and welcome to the forum,
What Audio Device do you use? Can you describe your routing? How is the Audio Interface involved in the MIDI recording?
SSL18.
Been using DAW since 1995, never seen such issue.
The keyboard is set to channel 8 midi, added track (midi) set to channel 8 in and out.
With the another DAW the settings are exactly the same but sysEx are enabled not in cubase14.
When pianoting on the keyboard I see that midi in receives signals but in the parts viewer there is nothing. I used in the past Cubase 5 and it was working with the same keyboard.
As “working” I say: the notes are displayed at the midi part selected for recording when playing with the keyboard.
MIDI is standard no ?
What the f*** the interface is important ?
The os is also important as the fact MIDI has nothing to see with the OS
Hi,
Set MIDI Input Channel to Any and Output Channel to 1.
Some screenshots might help.
Thanks, will try…
In this case I just wonder where is the conformity with norms like MIDI.
When your hardware keyboard is set to a channel it is because you want THIS channel to be dedicated to in/out stream in midi protocol… when put to “any” this protocol takes a real nonsense… this means “whatever” or “I don’t GAF”…
Sorry I’m a little negative because I lost time and money to switch to CuBase14 and I’m stuck by something that wasn’t far from expected… my nerves are shining :{
Hi,
If you want to filter only dedicated Channel Input, you can do so in Cubase. This allows you to to distinguish different MIDI Devices, or make layers.
If you want mix multiple sources, or you don’t want to take care about the Channel, you can set it to Any.
These two options gives you freedom and cover lots of use cases. And they are perfective aligned with the MIDI standard.
To be able to help you, we need some cooperation. Could you add the MIDI Monitor on the MIDI Input? How does it look like there? How does look a MIDI Monitor look like on the track?
using studio setup then capture events… the length of each event is 0… and the channel is 8 and it captures only once set to “any” I think… selecting channel 8 gives nothing when capturing.
didn’t work… nothing displayed when pressing notes on keyboard…
Hi,
Most often, this indicates, that the MIDI source doesn’t send proper MIDI Timing data.
A screenshot from the MIDI Monitors would help a lot.
Hi,
I remember, SSL UF8 had (or still has) exactly this issue with sending MIDI data (wrong timecode). It has been discussed here on the forum.
It seems SSL 18 has the same issue.
